CrowdOutAIDS: Your expertise on young people and HIV needed

CrowdOutAIDS is UNAIDS Secretariat’s online strategy development project on engagement of young people in the AIDS response. So far they have engaged some 5 000 young people in online and offline Open Forums, with participants from more than 85 countries. It is the first time in UN history that a strategy is built using crowdsourcing technology and social media tools.
The process is now moving into the next phases: finding solutions and creating a strategy for collective action. This moves the initial broad dialogue into a more in-depth strategic discussion about concrete actions that UNAIDS should take.
Based on the systematic analysis of the outputs of the CrowdOutAIDS Open Forums, 7 strategic priorities have been set by young people for UNAIDS, which will form the basis of the strategy:
- Strategic partnerships
- Transparent participation
- Increase (out) reach
- Leverage innovation
- Accessible information
- Smarter funding
- Skills for leadership
This is the opportunity for you to share the values and actions that you’re advocating be included in the strategy that will guide the work of the UNAIDS Secretariat with young people in the coming years.
There are two ways through which you can contribute to the strategy
- The solutions application, where you can suggest and vote for concrete actions that UNAIDS should take in each priority area
- The drafting process of the strategy, led by the Drafting Committee, which will allow you to shape the strategy content
By contributing your experience, views and ideas, you will help to ensure that the UNAIDS Secretariat’s Youth strategy 2012-2015 becomes a youth owned actionable strategy, that will strengthen youth leadership in the AIDS response.
